Our approach
We are not a research lab, and we don't overstate what an app can do. What we do is build on approaches with strong track records in clinical and educational practice, then measure — inside each family's own data — whether a strategy is actually helping their child.
Foundations we build on
- Emotion identification and zone-based check-ins. Helping children notice, name, and rate feelings is a core element of widely used self-regulation curricula in schools and therapy.
- Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Our boards follow established AAC practice: core-word vocabularies, consistent motor planning, and grammar support — informed by published core word lists from the AAC community.
- Outcome-based strategy selection. Rather than assuming one calming strategy fits all, GoRegulate records "Did it help?" outcomes and surfaces what works best for each individual child.
- Developmental milestones. Our Milestone Toolkit is grounded in the CDC's 2022 developmental milestone checklists across twelve age checkpoints and six domains.
An honest note
GoRegulate is a support tool, not a medical device, and it is not a substitute for assessment or therapy from qualified professionals. If you're a researcher or clinician interested in studying or evaluating GoRegulate, we'd love to talk: get in touch.
