Terms of Use

The short version: be an adult when you create an account, use GoRegulate to support a child in your care, and know that it complements — never replaces — professional care. The full terms follow.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and GoRegulate, British Columbia, Canada ("GoRegulate", "we", "us"). By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or using the GoRegulate app or goregulate.ca (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Effective date: August 12, 2026.

2. Accounts and eligibility

Accounts may only be created by adults (18+): a parent, legal guardian, or professional authorized to support a child.
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials and adult PIN confidential, and for all activity under your account.
By adding a child profile you confirm you have the legal authority to consent to the collection of that child's information as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Not medical advice

GoRegulate is a wellbeing and communication support tool. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, and is not a substitute for diagnosis, assessment, or treatment by qualified professionals. Always seek the advice of your child's physician or therapist with any questions about a medical or developmental condition. Never disregard professional advice because of something in the app. If a child is in crisis or at risk of harm, contact local emergency services.

4. Subscriptions and payment

Parts of the Service require a paid subscription. Prices are shown before purchase.
Purchases made in the iOS app are processed by Apple and governed by Apple's payment terms; manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings. Purchases made in the Android app are processed by Google Play and governed by Google's payment terms; manage or cancel them in your Google Play account settings. Purchases made on our website are processed by Stripe.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period except where required by law or by the applicable store's refund policies.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: misuse or disrupt the Service; attempt to access another account's data; reverse engineer the app except where law permits; upload unlawful or harmful content (including to AAC boards or social stories); or use the Service to violate anyone's rights.

6. Your content

You own the content you and your child create in the Service (boards, stories, drawings, records). You grant us the limited licence needed to store, sync, back up, and display that content to your care circle — solely to operate the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Our intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, logo, and preset content — belongs to GoRegulate or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on devices you own or control — including Apple-branded devices in accordance with the App Store's usage rules, and Android devices in accordance with the Google Play Terms of Service.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time (how to delete). We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these Terms, with notice where practicable. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (3, 6–11) survive.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.

10. Apple-specific terms

For app copies obtained through the App Store: these Terms are between you and GoRegulate only, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support; in case of the app's failure to conform to a warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price, and Apple has no other warranty obligation; Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the app; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you.

11. Google Play–specific terms

For app copies obtained through Google Play: these Terms are between you and GoRegulate only, not Google; Google is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support; and your use of the app must also comply with the Google Play Terms of Service.

12. Governing law, changes & contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules where you live.
